HALEYVILLE-A 16-year-old Marion County boy is charged in a Sunday morning stabbing that killed his mother and seriously injured his father, according to Sheriff Kevin Williams of Marion County.

The Haleyville Police Department, Haleyville Fire Department, Bear Creek Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and Marion/Winston District Attorney’s Office responded to a stabbing at 334 Slaughter Pen Road near Haleyville.  According to family at the scene, the stabbing occurred around 11:00 p.m. Sunday night, but the victims were not found until a neighbor heard them screaming for help in the early hours Monday morning. Investigators said the son fled the scene and the father, who had a cell phone but no reception, made his way from the bed to a window and continuously cried for help until a relative who lives nearby heard him and called 911 about 4 a.m.
