FLORENCE – Accused child pornography aficionado, David Erick Gray’s dreams of new-found freedom didn’t end the way he and his lawyer had planned.

Gray, 31 years old of Killen, is accused of owning one of the largest collections of child pornography in the State of Alabama’s history. Earlier this week, at a hastily-called bond hearing, Gray’s bond was reduced from $750-thousand to $10-thousand. He was preparing to be released from the Lauderdale County Detention Center where he had been held since his arrest on September 7. His intentions were to go home in the custody of family members. According to police, his lawyer Leslie Johnson was making arrangements to have Gray flown to a sex-addiction clinic in Pennsylvania where he was to receive therapy. That didn’t happen.

Plans for the trip were interrupted when Gray was re-arrested less than an hour later. In what appears to have been a thoroughly orchestrated plan, the Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office got an emergency hearing with District Judge Mike Jones. Within a few minutes, Jones issued a new order, raising the bond to $5-million. Evidence had been presented to Jones of 10-thousand additional counts of possession of child pornography. To add icing to the cake, 5 more charges were leveled against Gray. These counts were for First-degree Sexual Abuse. The evidence of which was also allegedly found on the hard drives.

The investigation is not over. A source tells The Quad-Cities Daily that up to 20-thousand more counts may be brought against Gray after all of the seized hard-drives are catalogued. Florence detectives are asking the public for any information it might have regarding this case. In particular, they are looking for evidence that would point to any one who might have been accosted or abused by Gray.

A source has told us that Grey was in the process of installing a satellite dish and receiver which would have enabled the man to gain un-restricted and hard-to-trace child pornography signals directly from satellites.

According to sources, Gray was turned in to Florence Police by a person very close to him. This person inadvertently discovered the child porn on Gray’s computer and immediately called authorities.

This sickens me to the core. I’m proud this county is starting to care about this type of crime. they need to get on the ball to help these innocent children. however, this man should not even have bond in my opinion he is a terrorist. people like this need to be hung the he’ll with my tax dollars feeding this monster.
