TUSCUMBIA-Spring is one of the best times to visit Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve – the waterfalls are flowing and the wildflowers are blooming. This is the schedule for the Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve Spring Kick-off Event on April 19, from 10:00AM to 3:30 PM.
Join us at the preserve with your family and friends located at Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve – 251 Loop Rd, Tuscumbia, AL 35674 for a wonderful day of hiking, music, and lunch provided by the CCCNP Advisory Board.
The event is free and open to the public, however donations are greatly appreciated and encouraged. All donations received are utilized at CCCNP for maintenance purposes.

Guided Hikes: 10am – 12 noon
(1) Blue Hole Hike (Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous – approximately 3 miles)
Duration:10am – 12noon. This hike will lead guests to the beautiful Blue Hole area of the preserve, where hikers will see wildflowers blooming, cane creek and the Blue Hole area. Hikers are encouraged to bring a full refillable water bottle and hiking stick (The preserve has some to borrow if needed.) Hikers will hike through our rolling hills of mixed hardwood forest with beautiful scenery of oaks, hickories, beeches, maples and blooming native azaleas. Hike Leader: Matt Hester
(2) Wildflower Hike (Difficulty: Easy to moderate – approximately. 2miles)
Duration: 10am – 12 noon. Hikers will be engaged in this hike through their guided exploration of the wildflowers in full bloom. Hikers are encouraged to take as many pictures as they wish but no picking, please! This hike will start off above the canyon before making our way to the Boulder Garden area. We will conclude by hiking back out of the canyon at a leisurely pace. Hikers are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle and a hiking stick. Hike Leader: Patrick Shremshock
(3) Creekside Family Event: (Difficulty: Easy – less than 1 mile) Duration: 10am – 12 noon. This event will include sampling
and identification of the macroinvertebrates that inhabit Waterfall Creek. Participants are encouraged to wear water shoes. This is a hand-on activity for the whole family. Event Leader: Kara Million
12:00pmMusic by The Cliftones! Bring a blanket or camp chair and enjoy the sweet music of the Cliftones. They will entertain us
all afternoon.

CCCNP Advisory Board will provide hotdogs, condiments, chips, fruit, drinks etc. Dine and socialize with the Cliftones
and other guests.

Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve will recognize our sponsors and donating agencies that have made the event
possible.
2:30 – 3:00 pm
Archery 101: Join the archery instructor to learn how to properly and safely use archery equipment. All participants MUST

be at least 10 years or older. Younger aged children may not be able to draw back the bow safely. Archers are required to
sign a waiver to participate and are expected to follow the instruction of the instructor and adhere to the standards of
safety. All equipment will be provided.
3:30pm
Event concludes with all-hands helping with breakdown, loading up the band, cleaning up the preserve and ensuring that
we leave no trace.
Don’t forget your camp chair or blanket to sit upon.
If it rains, the event will be held on April 26.
