Graveside service and interment for Daisy Louise Jennings, 87, will be Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Valhermoso Cemetery with Rev. Jerry DeBell officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be August 15, 2013 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Valhermoso Christian Church.
Mrs. Jennings passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at her residence. She was born June 27, 1926, in Jeffersonville, IN, to James Edward Anderson and Marie Lousie (DeGreef) Anderson. She became an ordained minister of the gospel in 1948 and joined the civil service and returned to Europe and and very active with Youth for Christ. she married her husband, William Floyd Jennings in March 17, 1950. She was commissioned by the Assemblies of God missionaries to Alaska and homesteaded there in 1958. Mrs. Jennings became a typing instructor at the Army Education Center, Elmentdorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. She received a Master’s Degree in Education from U of A in 1979. In 1958, Daisy had a degree in Education from Pasadena Nazarene College, in Pasadena, CA and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Alaska in Anchorage. She was a Concert Pianist in Europe and was trained as an expert seamtress while she was in Europe. She was appointed by the Assembly of God (Springfield Missouri Office) to be a missionary in Alaska. She received a certificate for her work in Nursing Home Ministry from Muldoon Community Assembly of God. She smuggled bibles into Cuba and went on several mission trips and she volunteered at the Senior Center and the Salvation Army.
