Grey Van Morgan, 70, having lived out her allotted three score and ten years, died July 8, 2013, at her home in Paducah, Ky. A native of East Tennessee, Grey spent her childhood in Norris and was a 1961 graduate of Norris High School. A talented singer and gifted artist, she majored in music at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. and later majored in art at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn. She was a resident of Paducah for many years where she worked in the insurance industry, retiring in 2005. Often pursuing her love of music, over the years she was a member of many choirs. Recently she was an active member of the West Kentucky Gospel Music Association. Deeply religious, she gave her time and talent generously often singing concerts at nursing homes.

Grey is survived by her brother, Harold Van Morgan Jr. (Cellie Mitchell Morgan), of Florence, Ala.; her sister, Keith Morgan Geekie, of Shawnee Kan.; her nieces, Ellie Morgan, of Portland, Oregon, and Jean Morgan, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and her nephew, Chris Geekie, of Baltimore, Md.

She was preceded in death by her parents who were longtime residents of Paducah. Her father, Harold Van Morgan Sr., was a native of Martin, Tenn., and a career land planner for TVA. Her mother, Jean Robinson Morgan, a native of Spokane, Wash., was a reporter for the Paducah Sun. Grey’s paternal grandparents are Zelma Williams Morgan and Walter Gray Morgan, both long deceased, of Martin, Tenn.

A graveside service at Eastside Cemetery, Martin, Tenn., will be conducted by the Rev. Christopher Carlisle. Details will be announced by Murphy Funeral Home of Martin, (800) 252-0084. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society .
