Mr. Arnold "Arno" TorrezArno Torrez, 63, of Birmingham, Alabama, entered into eternal rest on November 3, 2026, surrounded by the love and devotion of his family. Born October 22, 1963, in Lampasas, Texas, Arno was the son of Casimiro and Enriqueta Torrez. The youngest of thirteen children, he grew up surrounded by a large and loving family and shared an especially close bond with his mother. He attended Lampasas Independent School District. As a boy, he loved playing cowboys with his brothers, who delighted him by telling him he was the quickest draw in the yard.

Arno shared 33 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Deborah. He was a devoted father to April and a proud grandfather to Maddox and Leo. He treasured both his family in Texas and the extended family he gained through marriage in Alabama. Arno took tremendous pride in his work as a lineman. Skilled and dependable, he often helped train fellow crew members. When hurricanes, tornadoes, and severe storms damaged power lines, he was ready to travel wherever he was needed, working long hours to help restore service. To Arno, being a lineman was far more than a job; it was a calling he loved.

A gifted guitarist, Arno especially enjoyed making music with his brothers at family gatherings. He also brought his guitar to holidays and celebrations with Deborah’s family, sharing his love of music with those around him. He loved warm weather, the outdoors, grilling for family and friends, and baking his specialty, peach cobbler.

Arno’s Catholic faith was central to his life. Baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lampasas, he served there as an altar boy. He encouraged those he loved to remain loyal to their family, their friends, and their faith. Hardworking, easygoing, and gentlehearted, Arno had a warm smile that reached his eyes. He made others feel welcome, valued, and appreciated. His playful humor was unforgettable: he had a habit of privately telling each sister-in-law that she was his favorite, leaving every one of them believing it. He gave his affection freely, whether to family and friends or to his beloved cat, Miss Kitty, whom he lovingly brushed each evening.

Arno is survived by his wife of 33 years, Deborah Latham Torrez; his daughter, April (Jon) Etheridge; his grandsons, Maddox and Leo; and his siblings, Yolanda (Isidore Jr.) Salazar, Casey Torrez, Ruben Torrez, Clara Gomez, and Adrian Torrez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Casimiro and Enriqueta Torrez, and his brothers, Jose Torrez and Adolph Torrez.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon at St. Jude Catholic Church in Scottsboro, Alabama. Burial will follow at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.

Arno was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend whose memory will forever be cherished by his family and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace
