Mozell Elkins BigbeeMozell Elkins Bigbee, age 90, of Boaz, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 1:30 a.m. She was born March 24, 1936.
Mozell was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her five children; Kenny (Bonita) Bigbee, Deborah Brown, Sandra (Jimmy) Williams, Angie (Phillip) Smith, and Jennifer Malone.
She leaves behind ten grandchildren; Brian (Mo) Williams, Heath (Brandy) Williams, Tana (Carl) Bailey, Heather (Kedrick) Boldin, Kasey (Jody) Lester, Nicholas Bigbee, Laura (Matt) Evans, Tyler (Courtney) Bigbee, John (Jordan) Brown, and Jared (Shelby) Smith; along with her great-grandchildren; Brayden, Layton, Saarah, Cody, Bo, Addyson, Hudson, Maggie, Kennedy, Cassondra, Cayden, Blakely, Jackson, Theodore, Harrison, Celesta, Zoee, and Finn, as well as a very large and loving extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas Bigbee, her first grandchild; Celesta Lynn, her parents; Ped and Maggie Elkins, two brothers and eight sisters.
Mozell’s greatest love was Jesus. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she made sure her children were raised in church. Red Apple Baptist Church was home to her family, and she was blessed to see her children give their lives to the Lord there.
She loved music and encouraged her children to sing. Along with her niece Karren and the “girls”, they formed a wonderful quartet–at least until Jennifer came along and decided she wanted to sing too. Angie was quick to point out that a quartet was four people, not five! Somehow, Jennifer managed to wiggle her way into the group anyway.
Her children were always the joy of her life. She encouraged Kenny to learn to play the guitar and was so proud of Deborah and her knowledge of the Bible. She often said Sandra’s endless energy was going to run her crazy, but Sandra eventually found plenty of ways to put that energy to work helping her family and others.
Mozell was perfect for her family. She loved deeply, prayed faithfully, and left a legacy of faith, family, music, laughter, and love that will live on through the generations.
Her family will forever cherish the memories they made with her and the lessons she taught them—not only through her words, but through the life she lived.
