In Loving Memory of Linda Owen Waide
September 20, 1952 – November 5, 2026
Linda Owen Waide, 74, departed this life on Thursday, November 5, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and a lifetime of making a difference in the lives of others.
Born September 20, 1952, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Harold and Sophie Jane Owen, Linda lived a life that was anything but ordinary. She had a heart for helping others, a spunky spirit, and a personality that could brighten a room. She believed in working hard, loving deeply, laughing often, and making the most of every moment.
Linda married Donald Waide and together they were blessed with two sons, Rob and Chad, who were her pride and joy.
Linda dedicated much of her professional life to education and serving the students of Northwest-Shoals Community College, where she retired in October 2012. Throughout her distinguished career, she served as Director of the Career Center and worked as a counselor and ADA Coordinator, helping students navigate their educational journeys, overcome challenges, and discover opportunities for brighter futures.
But Linda’s greatest contributions could never be measured by a job title or years of service.
She had a remarkable ability to recognize when someone needed help, often before they ever found the courage to ask. Whether providing clothing or food to a struggling student, offering encouragement during difficult times, advocating for someone who needed a voice, or connecting families with life-changing resources, Linda believed that everyone deserved compassion, dignity, and an opportunity to succeed.
To many, she was far more than a counselor or educator. She was a mentor, an advocate, a source of comfort, and sometimes simply the person who cared when someone needed it most. Her kindness reached well beyond the walls of Northwest-Shoals Community College and into the hearts and lives of countless individuals throughout the Shoals community.
But there was so much more to Linda than her accomplishments and the many people she helped along the way.
Linda had a spunky, fun-loving personality and a wonderful zest for life. She loved spending time with friends, traveling, sharing stories, and finding any excuse for a good laugh. Whether she was enjoying an adventure, making memories with those closest to her, or simply spending an afternoon surrounded by good company, Linda knew that some of life’s greatest joys were found in the moments shared with others.
She had a way of making ordinary moments memorable. With her lively spirit, quick wit, and love for a good time, Linda brought laughter and personality wherever she went. She treasured her friendships and the memories made along the way. Life was meant to be enjoyed, and Linda certainly knew how to enjoy it.
Yet, for all Linda accomplished, all the places she traveled, and all the lives she touched, nothing brought her greater happiness than her family.
Above all else, Linda treasured being a mother and grandmother. Her sons, Rob and Chad, and her beloved grandchildren, Mason, Zeke, and Ella, were the center of her world. They were her greatest blessings, her proudest accomplishments, and the source of a love that knew no bounds.
No title, recognition, or professional achievement could ever compare to the joy she found in her family. The moments spent together, the memories made, the laughter shared, and the love that surrounded them were the things she cherished most.
Linda’s legacy is not measured simply by the 74 years she lived, but by how fully she lived them. It lives on in the students she encouraged, the people she helped, the friendships she treasured, the laughter she shared, and, most importantly, the family she loved with all her heart.
Those who knew Linda will remember her generous heart, her spirited personality, her love of a good time, and the special way she made people feel cared for and loved.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, the stories, laughter, memories, and love she leaves behind will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those fortunate enough to have known her.
Linda lived with purpose, loved without limits, laughed with her whole heart, and left this world a little brighter than she found it.
A life well lived. A family deeply loved. A beautiful spirit that will never be forgotten.
