Connie Jo Vance Turner Profile Photo Connie Jo Vance Turner, 71, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Connie was born on November 11, 1954, in Murfreesboro, TN, to Joseph Abraham Vance and Nellie Duke Vance.

From the very beginning, Connie was a little fireball full of energy, personality, and a love for life. She was an accomplished athlete from an early age, riding her first pony, Cracker Jack, by the age of four and excelling in softball, basketball, and tennis. Her basketball talent eventually earned her the opportunity to play professionally in Arizona, and she later continued playing in independent softball and basketball leagues well into her forties. Above all, Connie was known for her remarkable memory, quick wit, big personality, and love for people. She had a way of remembering just about everyone she met and making lasting friendships along the way. She was a devoted mother to her two sons and a loving grandmother to her ten grandchildren, soon to welcome an eleventh, who brought her tremendous joy.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Abraham Vance and Nellie Duke Vance, and her grandchildren, Josh Sherrill and Juliann Black, and a brother in law, Ronald Maxwell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Tyler and Angela Black, and Cody and Anna Turner; grandchildren, Emma Beverly, Alex Black, Vivian Black, Remington Black, Ahren Turner, Axton Turner, Aldon Turner, and Abigail Turner; her sister, Cynthia Maxwell; niece, Ashley and Matt Carr; great-nieces, Ali and Aubri Carr; nephew, Ronnie Maxwell; great-nephew, Ethan Maxwell; and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Connie’s faith in her Lord Jesus and her love for family was central to her life. In her later years, when physical limitations made it difficult for her to walk and drive, she found joy in the simple things she could still do. She loved attending church on Sundays and sharing Bible verses on the computer to encourage others. Though life slowed her down physically, it never took away the love she had for her family, her faith, or the people who meant so much to her. Her energetic spirit, laughter, and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Jerry Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Gilley Hill Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Connie will be deeply missed, but her life, her love, and her legacy will never be forgotten.
