Scott dedicated his life to protecting and serving others through a distinguished law enforcement career spanning more than three decades. Following service with the Bay County Police Department, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department, and the Murfreesboro Police Department, he proudly served as a Sergeant with the Tennessee Highway Patrol for over 20 years before his recent retirement.

Throughout the law enforcement community, Scott was affectionately known as “Scotty” and respected as a “policeman’s policeman.” He was a trusted leader, mentor, and friend whose integrity and commitment earned the admiration of fellow officers across the state. He was known for his selflessness, often volunteering to work extra shifts and holiday assignments so younger troopers and fellow officers could spend precious time with their families.

One of Scott’s most cherished assignments was escorting the Middle Tennessee State University football team during its seasons for many years. Among his favorite memories were accompanying the Blue Raiders to the Hawaii Bowl on two occasions.

Outside of his career, Scott loved traveling with family and creating lasting memories through adventure. Whether relaxing along the white sandy beaches of Destin, Florida, or enjoying the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, he found peace in God’s creation. He especially treasured a memorable family trip out West, exploring the California coastline while celebrating his parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.

Above all else, Scott was a faithful Christian who loved his Lord and was a member of Short Creek Baptist Church in Christiana. His faith guided his life, shaped his character, and served as the foundation of how he cared for others.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses (Neuro ICU), and staff at Ascension Saint Thomas West Hospital for their kindness, compassion, and patience during this difficult time.

Scott will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving son, caring brother and uncle, dedicated law enforcement officer, faithful Christian, and loyal friend. His life was marked by honor, humility, service, and an unwavering commitment to others.
