A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, from 1-3pm at Heritage Funeral Home, with the memorial service starting at 3pm with his niece, Kendra Dodson, delivering the eulogy. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Daryl was born on January 8, 1958, at a naval base in Connecticut and was the son of the late Kenneth Wayne Winstead and Shirley Winstead. He was proudly raised in the state of Texas. He served in the United States Navy in the 70’s and later worked for General Motors until his retirement in 2009 and began his gun trades full time.

Daryl developed his passion and knowledge of firearms from his father and Uncle Ed, who taught him the art of buying and trading guns. Over the years, he became well known in the gun community for his remarkable selection, honesty and fairness with every trade and his unmatched expert Gun knowledge was sought after and trusted by many.

Those who knew Daryl will remember him as a man with a calm demeanor, an outgoing personality, and a quick wit. He never met a stranger and had a genuine way of making people feel welcome. He was a kindhearted man with a servant’s heart who was always looking for ways to help others. Whether lending a helping hand, firing up the grill, preparing a delicious meal, or making sure everyone had a plate of food, Daryl found joy in taking care of the people around him. He was also a wonderful cook and an avid gardener who loved classic rock, specifically AC/DC. You could find him playing the air guitar, singing, and dancing anywhere in town.

Above all, Daryl was a devoted husband, an attentive father, a loving Papa, and a loyal friend. He cherished his wife and family and took great pride in caring for them and those he loved. His greatest joys were found in the simple things: spending time with family and friends, sharing a home-cooked meal, enjoying a good laugh, and making sure everyone around him was taken care of. He was truly one of a kind, and his kindness, generosity, humor, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Along with his mother, Shirley Winstead, Daryl is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Cindy Kelley Winstead; his children, Eddie Winstead, Scott Winstead, Darly Ann (John) Winstead-Dale, David (Christy) Robinson, and Julie Robinson; sisters-in-law, Brenda Wallace and Lora Lope; grandchildren, Coco Allen, Isabela Robinson, and Trypp Robinson; his special friends, Roger Harger, Jon Harger, and Dan Smith and the late Glen Rogers; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Kenneth Wayne Winstead, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Kelly Winstead, Wade Winstead, and Susan Winstead; sister-in-law, Theda Wallace; brother-in-law, Wayne Wallace; and mother-in-law, Nellie Watson.

Daryl leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and integrity. He will be remembered not only for what he knew and accomplished, but for how he treated people, the lives he touched, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories of his laughter, his generosity, and the many ways he cared for others will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
