A TRIBUTE FROM FRIENDS
I lost a dear friend this week. He was part of our morning show on K-Fox 105 Alexandria, LA, twenty five years ago when I hosted a morning show with the very talented and professional Steve Coco and occasional drop-ins from the multi-talented Shy Tyler. We had a GREAT morning show.
Chef Chittlin’, as he was known on the air, recited a custom recipe every morning on the Radio for a few years, mis-pronouncing just about every food in the book (On Purpose), like calling a zucchini a “Bikini”, and Cordon Blue as “Cartoon Blue”! The Chef was a riot, his real name was Rick, and he had Steve and I rolling in laughter every morning.
In the pic: left to right, another great talent and Radio professional, Uncle Larry, who was a very popular DJ on our sister station, LA 103.5, Steve Coco, Chef Chittlin’, and me. Together, we ruled the airwaves in Alexandria for several years. Enjoyed great ratings and good Radio.
The Chef continued to play his character when my morning show moved to Oldies 104.3 in Alexandria, but when I moved to Eunice, LA, I asked him to report his recipes via phone on my morning show at KEUN-FM, but he said he couldn’t hear it in Alexandria, so he declined! I did get to see him during Mardi Gras in Eunice a couple of years ago, and it brought back memories of he and I, with the late Tommy McLain, doing Swamp Pop Shows and hanging out together so long ago.
Rest In Peace, Chef, you were a good guy #radio #kahuna
