The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Methodist Cemetery. Officiating will be Ben Siegel.

Pallbearers will be Zach Miles, Chris Haddock, Heath Haddock, Donnie Pitts, Braxton Dickerson, and Bennett Creamer.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; brothers, Howard and Jimmy Haddock; and sister, Ollie Carpenter.

She is survived by nieces and nephews of four generations and a plethora of cousins who will all miss her very much…as will her special friend, Don Cook and family.

Mae was a resident of Lauderdale County where she was born in October, 1943. She was the youngest and last surviving of four children born to Hershel and Velma Jackson Haddock. Mae was a proud graduate of Central High School where she met her sweet husband, Bob Fowlkes. They were married for 49 years until his death in 2012.

She worked as a Civil Servant with the USPS as a Rural Letter Carrier in Lauderdale County for more than 20 years. Mae served in various positions with the Alabama Rural Letter Carriers.

Mae was a life-long member of the Church of Christ where she taught numerous Sunday School Classes at the Glendale congregation for the young ones and was involved in VBS activities for many years.

Mae was happiest in the kitchen baking and decorating cakes of all kinds. Also, spending time with family was at the top of her list.

The family would like to extend a very gracious thank you to the staff and caregivers at Cedar View Assisted Living Home, to Dr. Danny McFall, and NAMC for the medical assistance that pulled her through some really tedious times.
