Tyler Scott Story, 38, of Oxford, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Born on April 14, 1988 in Anniston, Alabama, to Shelly Norton-Brown and Keith Story, Tyler was someone who could make you laugh when you least expected it. He had a quick wit, a hilarious sense of humor, and a kindness that came from the heart. He had a way of bringing laughter into a room and making ordinary moments memorable. Beneath his humor was a genuinely kind soul who loved his family deeply.
Tyler enjoyed Alabama football, fishing, hunting, and spending time with the people who meant the most to him. His nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart, and being part of their lives was something he cherished. Whether he was sharing a laugh, making a memory, or simply spending time with family, Tyler brought his own personality to every moment. He will be remembered for the laughter he brought, the kindness he showed, and the memories that will forever be a part of the people who loved him.
Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Norton, and his great-grandparents, Freeman and Aline Harris, and Arvie and Garnett Norton.
He is survived by his parents, Shelly (Wayne) Brown and Keith (Selina) Story; his sisters, Kalyn Story and Abby (Luis) Bjornson-Fernandez; his uncle, Scott (Kim) Norton; his grandmother, Patsy (George) Brooks; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Kohen, Maryn Cate, Lawson, Bré Elle, and Vivian.
There will be no funeral or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Tyler’s memory consider making a donation through the family’s GoFundMe. Contributions will first go toward helping the family cover Tyler’s cremation expenses. Any funds remaining after those expenses have been paid will be donated to Alabama Adult & Teen Challenge, a Christian faith-based recovery program dedicated to helping individuals find freedom from addiction and hope for a new beginning through Christ.
The family is deeply grateful for every donation, prayer, and act of kindness during this difficult time.
