Carolyn Joyce McCrackin, 79 of Arab, the Hopewell Community, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2026, at her home. She was born September 20, 1947 in Arab, the daughter of Dallas Lavoid Holaway and Doris Bagwell Holaway. She was a 1966 graduate of J.B. Pennington High School. She was married to Thomas Grady “Tommy” McCrackin until his death on September 3, 2008. She worked as a cosmetologist, caregiver and welcomed and supported families during visitations at Gober Funeral Chapel. She was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
Joyce is survived by her children, Stephanie Gray, Patrick McCrackin (Beth) and Candace Ely (Austin); grandchildren, Liya Gray, Addison Gray, Joshua Gray, Nathan McCrackin, Charlston McCrackin, Carter McCrackin, Emberly McCrackin, Alex Bearor, Jasmine Bearor and Mckenzie Bearor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy McCrackin; parents, Lavoid and Doris Holaway and a son-in-law, Marson Gray.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2026, at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Greg Stone and Brother Michael Lackey officiating. The burial will be in the adjoining cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
Pallbearers: Raymond Bodine, Edward Bodine, Oneal Smith, Phillip Bagwell, Donny Brown and Tom Smith.
