Donna “Lisa” Russell Strong, 64, Elkmont, was born June 17, 1962, and passed peacefully from this earth on Monday, October 19, 2026. Visitation will be held Friday, October 23, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, Athens, AL. The funeral service will be held at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with Lance Pitts officiating. A short visitation will precede the service beginning at 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Interment will be at Hatchett Cemetery, Toney, AL.
Lisa was a devoted Christian and a true definition of a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. Her warmth left a lasting mark on everyone she knew and met.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Russell, Joe “Hester” and Rachel Williams. Her brothers, David, Waylon, and Marshall Russell. Her first husband, Tim Johnson, her late husband, Robert “Bob” Strong; her grandson, Skylar Rivera, and granddaughter, Kriston “Lulu” Morrell.
She is survived by her children, Donna Jo Buszka and husband, Michael, Amanda Todd and husband, Corey, Kenneth “Bitt” Strong, Sarah “Lynn” Bailey and husband, Wayne, and Marie Morrell; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; sisters, Diane Russell and Linda McCafferty; brother, Joe Williams; and a host of other family and friends whom she loved very much and were so special to her.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt thanks to her cousin, Jason Travis, for the love and care he has given to our precious mama.
Pallbearers will be Preston Todd, Levi Todd, Jason Travis, Austin Morrell, Johnny Loveday, and Hayes Johnston. The honorary pallbearer will be CJ Morrell.
