Grant Lee ChapmanGrant Chapman, 81, of Boaz, AL went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 9, 2026 from Marshall Medical Center South. Those closest to Grant called him, Grant Lee. He became totally healed and whole and was surrounded by his family as he transitioned from this life to the next.

Born December 31, 1944 in Pike County, KY, Grant was the son of the late Sidney Chapman Sr. and Georgia Johnson Chapman. In addition to his parents, Grant Lee was preceded in death by 10 siblings: Jack Chapman, Missouri Smith, Maxine Hernandez, Lana Kays, John Chapman, Sandra Gail Chapman, Allene Koloff, Sidney Chapman, Ona Lee Flippo, and Venie Rayburn. His son-by-choice, Christopher Norman, most assuredly met him with a huge welcoming hug.

Grant retired from Caterpillar located in Joliet, Illinois after 38 years. He and Kim chose to live in Boaz, AL. Grant enjoyed retirement and spent many hours tending his lawn and growing a garden. He was particularly proud of his blackberries. He was an avid collector of pocket knives. During the past few years, he spent many hours watching Christian television, listening to Christian and country music, reading his Bible, praying, watching westerns, and playing arcade games. One of his favorite things to do with his grandchildren was playing BINGO. He also enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren. Grant enjoyed country cooking and was particularly fond of pot beans with cornbread and cornbread with buttermilk.

Those who will cherish Grant’s life and legacy include his wife of 20 years, Kim Chapman; children-by-choice: Sarah Norman, Trisha Norman, and James Norman; siblings: Priscilla (Gene) Peterson and Allen (Zenna) Chapman; grandchildren whom were the delight of his retirement years: Mia Norman, Sophia Norman, Tiffany Riddle, William Riddle, Alexiss Norman, and Braxton Norman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

There will be no public service. A private celebration of Grant’s life is planned at a later date for the family to share forever memories.

The family wishes to thank all of the medical professionals who provided for Grant’s care during his life and his final few days. We want to extend heart-felt gratitude to Dr. Peters for his many years serving as Grant’s personal family physician. Adams Brown Service Funeral Home is handling all of Grant’s final wishes.
