Sandra Gay Walden Profile Photo  Sandra Gay Walden, 67, of Pontotoc, Mississippi, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family Monday, October 12. Sandra was a woman whose life was defined by kindness, generosity, faith, and an unwavering love for her family. She was a giver in every sense of the word, always thinking of others and finding ways to make people feel loved and cared for.

She was a graduate of Pontotoc High School, Class of 1977. For more than 30 years, Sandra was a familiar and beloved face at First Choice Bank, where she worked as a teller. She became known as everyone’s favorite drive-through teller. Sandra didn’t simply know her customers—she knew them as family. She knew their names, their families, their stories, and the little things that made each person special. Her warm smile, kindness, and genuine care made even a trip to the bank feel like visiting a friend. She had a way of making everyone who came through her window feel remembered and loved.

Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Carney Walden; her children, Misty Vineyard (Clark) and Lance Walden (Kaylee); and her beloved grandchildren, Emma, Carter, Westin, Channing, Ruby-Lin, Wyatt, and Vivy Kate.

She is also survived by her sister, Beverly Taylor (Bill); nephews Brandon Perkins and Dustin Perkins, along with their families; and many other family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her.

Her grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her life. Sandra loved being there for whatever they were involved in. She was in the stands, in the audience, on the sidelines, and wherever else she needed to be. She was their biggest cheerleader—not only in every game and activity, but in life. Her grandchildren knew they had someone who would always show up, always encourage them, and always be proud of them.

Sandra loved the simple joys of life, especially being in the sunshine. She loved spending time at the pool with her grandchildren, soaking up the sun, traveling, and especially laying on the beach. Some of her happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people she loved, enjoying the warmth of the sun and making memories with her family.

Sandra was a member of West Heights Baptist Church and loved the Lord deeply. Her faith was woven into the way she lived her life. She prayed faithfully for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends—often praying for others in ways they may never have known. Her greatest desire was for the people she loved to know the love of Christ and to be surrounded by His grace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Falba Gay, and her mother-in-law, Kathryn Walden.

Those left to cherish Sandra’s memory will carry with them not only the memories of the places they went and the moments they shared, but the lasting impact of a woman who loved deeply, gave freely, prayed faithfully, and showed up for the people she loved.

The family is especially thankful for the many thoughts, prayers, calls, messages, and acts of kindness shown to Sandra and the family throughout this journey. Your prayers have meant more than words can express.

Funeral services will be held at West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc, Mississippi, with on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 11AM with Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-8PM and again Thursday morning from 10AM until service time. Burial will follow in West Heights Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sandra’s family finds comfort in knowing that this life is not the end. As Scripture reminds us:

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”— Romans 8:18 (ESV)

She loved her family fiercely. She prayed for them faithfully. She cheered them on through every season. And she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through all of them.
