Mr. Jason Sherwood MountOur hearts are broken as we announce the unexpected passing of Jason Sherwood Mount on October 5, 2026, at the age of 55.

There are no words that can truly express the loss our family feels. Sherwood was so much more than a partner, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend—he was the steady presence we could always count on, the person who showed up when we needed him, and the one who made us feel safe, loved, and cared for.

For more than 20 years, Sherwood shared his life with Lana Davis, the love of his life and his best friend. Together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support. He taught us what it means to be dependable, selfless, and strong. Some of our most treasured memories are of Sherwood showing up for us, helping us through life’s challenges, and reminding us that family is built on love, commitment, and being there for one another through every season of life.

Sherwood was the kind of man who could fix anything. Whether it was a broken appliance, a home project, or a problem someone was facing, he was always willing to lend a hand. He found joy in working with his hands and took pride in helping others. If someone needed him, he was there.

He loved the outdoors and found peace in hunting and fishing. Many of his happiest days were spent in the woods, on the water, or sharing stories with family and friends. But nothing brought him more happiness than his grandchildren. They were the center of his world. He loved spending time with them, teasing them, teaching them, making them laugh, and creating memories that will live on in their hearts forever. The love he had for them was endless, and they knew without question how much they were cherished.

Sherwood is survived by his loving partner, Lana Davis; his mother, Karene Bates; his son, Matthew Mount; his daughters, Brooklyn Town, Whitney Loudermilk, Tristin (Zachary) Hunter, and Katelyn Baker; his grandchildren, Kaiden Fiasco, Avery Gretchen, Stella Gretchen, Ainsley Hunter, Scarlet Baker, and Gatlin Hunter; his sisters, Debbie Davis and Karen Mount; his stepbrothers, Daegan Phillips, Cody Rooks, and Eddie Bates; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his father, Bill Mount; his brother, Lee Mount; his stepmother, Amy Mount; his grandparents, Lee and Edith Scott and Jess and Ethel Mount; his stepfather, Raymond Bates; his beloved grandson, Kohen Gretchen; and his great-nephew, Buckner Anderson.

While our family struggles to imagine life without him, we find comfort in knowing how deeply he loved us and how deeply he was loved in return. The lessons he taught us, the memories he gave us, and the love he poured into our lives will remain with us forever. We will miss his voice, his laugh, his advice, his stubbornness, his stories, and the way he always made us feel like everything would be okay.

We were blessed to have him for 55 years, and although our time with him feels far too short, we would not trade a single moment. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but his love will continue to guide us every day.

Until we meet again, Sherwood, thank you for loving us, supporting us, protecting us, and showing us that blood doesn’t have to be shared to make family, family. You will be forever missed, forever loved, and forever carried in our hearts.
