Melinda Cope Blocker age 68 of Smithville passed away Friday October 9, 2026, at her residence. She was born April 1, 1958, to her late father Grady Doven Cope and her mother Loretta Hutchens Cope Wall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Blocker; two brothers, Tim Cope and Barry Cope. Melinda was a construction worker. She is survived by two children, Kaine Bouldin of Smithville, and Brooke Bristow of Smithville; grandchildren, Silana Bouldin and Kobbe (Leah) Clary; mother, Loretta Wall; fur baby, Marley. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday October 14, 2026, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 4 PM till 6 PM and Wednesday 11 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations may be made to the DeKalb Animal Coalition in memory of Ms. Blocker. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Blocker family.
