Sara Martha Sappington Profile PhotoSara Martha Sappington, 88, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Sunshine Health Care in Pontotoc, Mississippi. Sara was a woman of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and a heart devoted to caring for others. She was a faithful and active member of Fairview Church in the South Pontotoc community, where her love for the Lord was an important part of her life.

Throughout her working years, Sara was employed at Rivera Shirt Factory and later at ER Carpenter in Pontotoc, where she retired. However, some of her most meaningful work was done outside the workplace, as she lovingly devoted herself to the full-time care of her daughter, Missy, until her passing in 2008. Her selfless love and dedication were a beautiful reflection of the kind of mother and woman she was.

Sara faced many battles with cancer throughout her life, but she met each one with remarkable courage and a steadfast trust in the Lord. Even through life’s most difficult seasons, her faith remained her foundation. She was a fighter, an example of perseverance, and a testimony to God’s sustaining grace.

Today, her earthly battles are over, her suffering has ended, and her victory has been won. What a beautiful comfort to know that Sara is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior, reunited with those she loved and missed so dearly. Her life was a reminder that even in the hardest of times, faith can carry us through.

She leaves behind a host of loving nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory and the love she shared throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Missy Sappington; her parents, William and Evoyle Bridgman; her sisters, Lourene Pennington, Ruby Moorman, Grace Purdon, and Ann Burton; and her brothers, L.O. Bridgman, David Bridgman, James Earl Bridgman, Cecil Bridgman, Lamar Bridgman and infant brother, Billy Bridgman.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Fairview Church, with Bro. Corey Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Jernigan Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Fairview Church on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be James McGregor, Collin McGregor, Jake McGregor, Leslie Wilder, Pat Montgomery and Danny Gregory.

Though Sara will be deeply missed, her family can find peace in knowing that her long journey of faith has led her home. She has fought the good fight, finished her race, and is now enjoying the eternal reward she so faithfully believed in.
