William Franklin “Bill” Hill, 86, of Joppa, passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Born March 25, 1940, in Cullman County, he was the son of Lowell Hinds Hill and Lois Wright Hill. A 1958 graduate of Arab High School, he served in the Army National Guard and Reserve. Bill owned and operated North Alabama Nursery, continuing the family business he learned from his parents and later sharing his knowledge with his children. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. An avid Alabama football fan, he attended as many games as possible.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sandra Lindsey Hill; sons, Michael Lynn Hill (Karen), William Chris Hill and Shannon Morris Hill (Angela); grandchildren: Meghan Rutherford (Cobie), Amie Veal (Jaret), Rachel King (Dakota), Hunter Hill and Sarah Hill; great grandchildren, Reason, Evie and Emmarie; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Lois Hill; siblings, Howard Hill, Edna Peoples and Betty Jean Stephens.
Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2026, at Corinth Cemetery with Brother Junior Plunkett officiating, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
Pallbearers: Michael Hill, Chris, Hill, Shannon Hill, Dakota King, Jaret Veal, Cobie Rutherford, Hunter Hill and Brock McCord.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to either Shepherd’s Cove Hospice or the Arab Wesleyan Men’s Group at Arab Wesleyan Church.
