Clyde Ernest Dawson Jr, age 85 of Decherd, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jasper, Tennessee on April 6, 1941, to the late Clyde E. and Berthaline Elizabeth (Haggard) Dawson Sr. Before his retirement, he was employed as a machinist at AEDC. He was a member of the Church of God and enjoyed being a promoter of Southern Gospel Music in his community for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, gardening, and birdwatching. But most of all, he cherished the time spent with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ray Tucker; brother, Ronald Dawson; and sisters, Sue VanAllman and Elizabeth Carter. Ernest is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-five years, Sadie Dawson; son, Greg (Cara) Dawson; daughters, Renea (Chad) Quinn and Kristi (Dusty) Wilson; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin (Francis) Dawson, Royce Dawson, and Phillip (Danette) Dawson; sisters, Oma Dawson and Carolyn Turney; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
