Dorenia Belle Hagood, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 12, 1942, to Secrates and Icy Belle Key in West Jefferson County.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Elm Grove Church of God, funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Lynell Early and J. Michael Key will officiate.
She was preceded in death by her Parents-Secrates and Icy Belle Key, a Sister-Dorothy Virginia Early, Sisters-in-law-Pauline Key, Betty June Branham, Doris Cain and Dorothy Roberts. Brothers-in-law-Alford Early, James Mac Nichols, Blue Colburn, Rick Hall and Hank Branham. Also several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her Husband-Orville B. Hagood (Bub), Daughter-Renee Manasco (Brian) and Son-Carlos Hagood (Amber). Her grandchildren-Kayla McBrayer (Jack), Andrew Manasco (Kristin), Courtney Hassell (Randy), Lexie Hagood, Lily Hagood and Aiden Arrington. Great grandchildren-Caroline Manasco, Josiah McBrayer, Abigail McBrayer and Pheonix Hagood.
Her sisters-Hilda Nichols and Wanda Colburn and her Brothers-Johnnie Mac Key, Scott Key (Tommie Lou), JR Key (Juanell) and Tim Key (Martha), Brother-in-law-James Hagood (Cora), Sisters-in-law-Joan Hall and Sandra Vatani. Several nieces and nephews.
Dorenia and Bub were married on October 28, 1961, and were looking forward to celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary next month. They built a beautiful life together, rich and full of love and adventure.
Dorenia came to know the Lord at the age of 9 years old. She was a member of Elm Grove Church of God, where she was a faithful member all of her life. She taught Sunday School and VBS for years. She had a love for children, and it showed in how she taught them about the Lord. She was never ashamed of her faith in Jesus, and in the past few months, shared that with everyone she came in contact with.
She was a very talented seamstress and started working in clothing manufacturing in 1961 at the age of 18. She continued that career in several different manufacturing companies and was an assistant manager and later a manager at National Apparel in the early 1990’s until it closed in 1996.
Dorenia was the most selfless person we knew. She continually put others first, and she loved her family fiercely.
