Charles “Charlie” Wade Hampton Sr., age 76, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away Sunday, September 27th, 2026 at his home in Lawrenceburg surrounded by his children. Charlie was born on October 7th, 1949 to the late Paul Fagan Hampton and Annie Elizabeth Head Hampton in Ethridge, TN. Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was deployed to West Germany. After his service, he worked at Murray Ohio for 34 years before retiring in 2005. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, working outdoors, frequent trips to Walmart, trading with the Amish, and spending time with his loving family and friends. Charlie was an ordained minister and was of Christian Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Doris Hampton; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Houston Hampton; sister, Juanita Keener, and his nephew, Randy Hampton.
He is survived by his children, Charles “Wade” Hampton Jr., Wendy Eldridge (Steve), and Tara Shelton (Harley); grandchildren, Riley Shelton, Bo Hampton, Wyatt Shelton, and Claire Hampton; brother, Thomas “Tommy” Hampton (Dean); nieces and nephews, Tony Hampton (Evelyn), Lori Whitehead, and Anita Himes (Chad), and several extended family members and friends.
Visitation for Mr. Charles Hampton will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home on Thursday, October 1st, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home on Thursday, October 1st, 2026 beginning at 12:00 p.m. Brother Bobby Winton will be officiating.
Interment will be held at Old Ethridge Cemetery with full military honors.
