Cindayne “Cindy” Oliver Wheeles, 70, of Ashland, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on September 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. She will lie in state from 12:00 until service time at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Brother in Law Larry Mitchell and Brother Tranz Oliver officiating, burial will follow at Ashland City Cemetery.
Cindy was a graduate of Clay County High School and Southern Union State Community College. She dedicated many years to Little Rascals Daycare, where she loved working with pre-K children. She wore many hats throughout her years there and was always willing to help wherever she was needed. One of Cindy’s greatest passions was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. She lived her faith through her words, her actions, and especially through her love of singing. She faithfully shared the message of God’s love in churches and with those around her, leaving a lasting testimony of faith and devotion. Cindy had an unwavering willingness to help anyone in need and spent much of her life caring for family members. Her compassionate and giving spirit was a reflection of the love she had for others.
Cindy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Wayne Wheeles; her parents, Phillip and Wilma Oliver; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Freda Wheeles; her sister and brother-in-law, Diana and James Horn; and her granddaughter, Victoria Grace Parsons.
She is survived by her sister, Cherry Mitchell (Larry); her brother, Tranz Oliver (Cheryl); her children, Angie Wheeles (Joseph), Keisha Taylor (Chris), and Jamie Wheeles (Melissa); 15grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her close friend, Jeffrey Legacy.
Cindy will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit. Her life was a testimony to the love of Christ, and her legacy will live on through the many people she loved, taught, encouraged, and helped throughout her life.
Active Pallbearers will be Judd Cox, Josh Cox, Jackson Wheeles, Jeremiah Overton, Jake Mustard and Dakota Arrington.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Conley Mustard.
Her visitation will take place on Wednesday September 20, 2026 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 5:30 until 8:00 PM.
