Ann Estelle Hamilton, 94, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at Fairview at Redstone Village.
Born in 1932 to Stella Karas and George Krupko, Ann dedicated her life to her family and her work. She married Wilson Shannon Hamilton II, a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army, in 1952. Together they built a loving family and shared 54 years of marriage until Wilson’s passing in 2006.
Ann enjoyed a distinguished career in civil service, specializing in technical publications where her attention to detail and dedication earned the respect of her colleagues. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she enjoyed fine cooking and was especially passionate about preparing the traditional Slovak foods she enjoyed in her childhood, and ensuring her children and grandchildren had those same experiences. She also spent many years restoring antiques, a pursuit that brought her immense joy and aligned with her sense of thrift and preservation. Ann took great pride and delight in knowing how close all her children were to each other, despite the great geographical distance between them.
Her family will remember her as a vibrant, independent woman who valued hard work, honesty, fairness, thriftiness, and butter.
Ann is survived by her five children, Claire Farrell (Alan), Geoffrey Hamilton (Judy), Karl Hamilton (Rhonda), Scott Hamilton (Stephanie), and Chris Hamilton (David); five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish her memory and the values she instilled in them.
Ann will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery alongside her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Wilson Hamilton. There will be no public memorial service.
