Dwight Cox, age 68 of the Moreland Community, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born December 5, 1957. Dwight loved Nascar and Alabama Football. He enjoyed being outdoors and working on small engines. Dwight was a proud father and grandfather. Funeral service with no public visitation will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. New Home Baptist Church in the Moreland Community. Burial will be at Moreland Cemetery. Brother Abe Rooks will officiate. Pallbearers will be Charles Riddle, Kirk Riddle, Keith Riddle, Logan Sewell, Chris Riddle, and Brian Riddle. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Sewell and Luke Sewell. Dwight is survived by his sons, Patrick (Stacy) Sewell and Steven (Tiffany) Sewell; grandchildren, Logan Sewell, Mason Sewell, and Luke Sewell; sisters, Barbara Cox (Wayne) Mahaffey, Soundra Ballew, and Martini (Ray) Mitchell; special niece, Roxanne (Hiram) Chrisler; and a host of nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Debbie Cox; and his mother, Marie Cox. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dwight’s honor be made to either the American Cancer Society or Hope Lodge of Birmingham, AL.
