With deep sadness, the family of Ms. Jimie Carole Bowen announces the passing of their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Jimie, age 82, passed away early Saturday morning, September 12, 2026 at Shepherds Cove Hospice in Albertville. A resident of the Joppa community in Marshall County, she was born November 10, 1943, in Tennessee, to William James Hicks and Virginia Dare Elsea Hicks. She and her husband, Jimmy George Bowen, were married for more than 34 years. She attended Victory Cornerstone Church.
Jimie worked in various restaurants throughout the area. She was an accomplished and skilled employee, capable of handling all aspects of running a successful business in the food industry. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, watching TV and playing card games, especially Rummy.
Jimie is survived by her husband, Jimmy George Bowen; sons, Chris McMurphy and Brett Maxwell McMurphy; and three grandchildren.
Jimie was preceded in death by her father, William James Hicks; mother, Virginia Dare Elsea Hicks and her brothers and sisters.
The family has chosen to honor Jimie’s wishes for cremation and no formal public services. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel are assisting the family with arrangements.
