Amanda Dawn Allison Nash, 56, of Waterloo, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2026, passing peacefully while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Florence, Alabama, on September 25, 1969, Amanda was the eighth of nine children.
Amanda’s journey was rooted in hard work, love, and devotion to others. Following her 1987 graduation from Central High School, she began working at the HON furniture company in Florence, Alabama. Through perseverance, she advanced from filing envelopes to a 23-year career in customer service. Life brought her incredible blessings, her children, and on July 3, 1997, she wed her true love, Rusty Nash, who wholeheartedly embraced her family as his own. Amanda spent the last 15 years of her life caring for others as an elderly in-home caregiver. Nothing brought her more pride or happiness than her role as a grandmother to her eight precious grandbabies, who were the center of her universe.
Above all else, Amanda cherished her loved ones and the life she built alongside her husband of 29 years. She took delight in tending her flowers and yard, filling her home with order and warmth, and relaxing in the sunshine whether in the pool or on the beach. Amanda found immense joy in the simple, beautiful moments of life. She loved playing board games, cooking for those she loved, and sharing good times and meals with family and friends. Her journey culminated in a powerful step of faith as she devoted her life to Jesus Christ and joined Valley View House of Prayer. Of all her accomplishments, nothing brought her greater joy than raising their two children: a daughter who became a Registered Nurse and a son who serves as a United States Marine.
Amanda possessed a character truly worth admiring and aspiring to. She treated everyone she met with deep respect, dignity, and unconditional acceptance, effortlessly seeing the best in people. You could always count on a warm smile, a giant hug, and an invitation to “take a seat.” Her door was open to all, and she had a rare gift for making everyone feel like family.
During a courageous 20-month battle with ovarian cancer, Amanda faced her journey with immense strength and dignity. After exhausting many treatment options, she made the deep personal decision to gain her wings and enter her heavenly home. In her final days, Amanda found complete peace, sharing that while she was unafraid of what lay ahead, her only heartache was leaving behind the family and friends she cherished so deeply.
She is survived by her loving and faithful husband, Russell “Rusty” Nash of Waterloo, AL; her daughter, Whitney (Tim) Forbs of Athens, AL; her son, Tyler (Nicole) Smith of Beaufort, SC; and eight cherished grandchildren: Emma, Sophia, Sophie, Jaxon, Aaron, Olivia, Jett, and Sienna. She also leaves behind her brothers, Shane and Tim Allison of Waterloo, AL; her sisters, Barbara Borden of Iron City, TN, Cindy Pigg of Cypress Inn, TN, Angie Phillips of Hog Pride Mountain, AL, and Tammy Lindsay of Killen, AL; and her brother-in-law, Rodney Nash of Southaven, MS.
Amanda was reunited in heaven with her parents, Harve and Tempie “Volun” Allison; her mother-in-law, Brenda Nash; and her sisters, Rhonda Hensley and Sherry Holcombe.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 12, 2026, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights. The celebration of life will immediately follow with Brother Larry Burbank officiating. Interment will follow at Central Heights Community Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Holcombe, Richard Holcombe, Cody Bogus, Dustin Bogus, Charles “CB” Adams, Beverly Adams and Jerred Bevis.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to a cancer research institute of your choice in Amanda’s name or simply honoring her legacy by extending kindness to those around you.
