Gwendoline Alice Haney Gwendoline Alice Haney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue through the many lives she touched.

Gwen was born in Nottingham, England, on September 24, 1937. At the age of 20, she married her husband, Hubert O. Haney, an Alabama native who was stationed in Nottingham at the time. They eventually settled in Elkmont, Alabama, where they built their life and family together.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Doris Wathey; her beloved husband, Hubert O. Haney; and her son, Michael W. Haney.

She is survived by her sister, Rose Lovett (Brian); daughters, Teresa Beverly (Eddy) and Lisa Haney (Rodney Giese); daughter-in-law, Cindy Haney; and 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, whom she was blessed to watch grow into the people they are today. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as Nanny. She was also considered Nanny to so many others. Her grandchildren’s friends, extended family, and countless people who were fortunate enough to know her all called her Nanny, too. Nanny was the constant of the family. She loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. She was blessed to watch generations grow, celebrating their milestones, and creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Gwen was dearly loved, and her absence will be felt immensely by all who knew her. Though her passing leaves a tremendous emptiness in the hearts of her family and friends, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with the loved ones she missed dearly and had been looking forward to seeing again.
