Alma Sue Cooper James, age 75 of Chapel Hill, TN, formerly of Franklin, TN, passed away September 5, 2026. She was born in Williamson County, TN to the late Alton & Sue Bates Cooper. Alma was a 1969 graduate of Franklin High School. She went on to work as a human resource manager for Precision Tubular for 25 years and later retired from IB Tech. She attended Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Alma enjoyed gardening, photography, traveling, genealogy and most importantly, being “Nonnie” to her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Ricky Cooper and Jimmy Cooper; sister, Janice Barnard; sister in-law, Beth Dickson. Alma is survived by her husband of 27 years, Bobby James of Chapel Hill, TN; daughter, Rhonda (Spence) Walls of Chapel Hill, TN; grandchildren, Mason (Hannah) Walls and Spencer (Landry) Murdock; great-grandchildren, Kelso Murdock and Whitley Ray Walls; niece, Jennifer Tanner and many other loving family members. Funeral service will be held 3:00PM Wednesday, September 9, 2026 with visitation two hours prior to the service at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. DJ Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow at Williamson Memorial Gardens. Spence Walls, Mason Walls, Landry Murdock, David King and Scott Dickson will serve as pallbearers.
