Annie “Ethelene” Stephens, age 68 of Cowan, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Winchester on October 28, 1957, to the late Robert and Gertrude (Henshaw) King. Before her retirement, Annie had been employed at Linear Clothing. She loved spending time with her beloved family, as well as with her church family at Cowan Apostolic Church of Restoration. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Patricia King Lawrence; and nephews, Stacy Goff and Justin Goff. Annie is survived by her loving husband of fifty-one years, James “Howard” Stephens Sr; sons, James H. “Jamie” (Andrea) Stephens Jr and Dewayne (Kristyn) Stephens; grandchildren, J.C. (Skylar) Stephens, Kylee (Levi) Stephens, Ethan Stephens, and Abby Stephens; great-grandchildren, Atticus Stephens, Abram Stephens, Arabella Stephens, Cannon Stephens, and Archer Stephens; siblings, Gail (Jerry) Smith, Marshall (Anita) King, Linda (Pod) Morris, Brenda (Edward) Stephens, Betty (Lester) Ashley, Eddie (Linda) King, and Leisa (Chuck) Liles; several nieces and nephews; cousins, Kay (Jackie) Stills; and other extended family members. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Cowan Apostolic Church of Restoration. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Cowan Apostolic Church of Restoration with Bro. Lester Ashley and Bro. Jonathan Stephens officiating.
