Jerry D. “Karo” Balentine
November 12, 1955 – September 2, 2026
Jerry D. Balentine, affectionately known by many as “Karo,” age 70, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 10 am- 12 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a service to follow in the chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Tennessee.
Jerry was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He was known for his kind heart, unwavering love for those around him, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. He also had a passion for riding his Harley and enjoyed the freedom and fellowship that came with the open road.
Before his retirement, Jerry dedicated more than a decade of service to North American Lighting, where he was respected by his coworkers and took pride in his work.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Balentine and Jeanette (White) Balentine; his brother, Ronnie Balentine; and his sisters, Shelia Clark and Terri Chapa.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his children, Eric Balentine (Jennifer), Brad Balentine, Jackie Balentine (Michael), and Klarissa; his brother, Jackie Balentine; his sisters, Tammie Balentine and Rita Strickland (David); six grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and many extended family members, friends, and neighbors who loved him dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Isbell and his staff, as well as Amedisys Hospice of the Shoals, for their compassionate care and support. They would also like to express their deepest appreciation to Jerry’s many loving friends and neighbors who helped care for him throughout his extended illness. The outpouring of love shown to Jerry and his family was a true blessing, and his cup truly runneth over.
Serving as pallbearers will be Derrick Eddy, Austin Rainey, AJ Rivera, Will Rivera, Branden Diaz, and Jeff Bryan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Fretwell, Jack Vickery, and Rick Ivey.
Though he will be deeply missed, Jerry’s memory will live on in the lives he touched, the family he treasured, and the countless memories shared by all who knew and loved him.
