Josie Evelyn (Erlene) Shockley, age 93, of White House, TN, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 12pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Pastor Tim Abshire officiating. The family will receive friends 10am until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Pegram.
Mrs. Shockley was born January 14, 1933, in Boones Mill, VA to the late Willie and Reva Abshire. She loved reading her Bible and studying with the Shepherd’s Chapel. She also had a passion for cooking, collecting recipes, caring for plants, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shockley was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Clarence Edward Shockley; brothers, James (Jim) Abshire, Robert (Bob) Abshire, Herbert Abshire and Curtis Abshire; and brothers-in-law, Alonza Shockley and Ernest Akers.
She is survived by a son, Clarence “Dean” (Jan) Shockley; daughter, Vanessa (Tom) Atkins; 4 grandchildren, Brandi (David) Hester; April (Danny) Eubank; Jesse (Sapphire) Shockley and Ryan Atkins; 3 great grandchildren, Landon, Charlie and Forrest; a brother, Jack Abshire; sisters, Dorothy Shockley, Joyce Akers and Bonnie (Ron) Ballard; sister-in-law, Daris Abshire and many nephews and nieces.
