Robert Charles Mason Sr.Mason, Sr., Robert Charles “Bob” of Greenbrier, died August 25, 2026. A celebration of Bob’s life will be 12 noon on Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at the Greenbrier Austin & Bell Funeral Home, 2619 Hwy 41S, Greenbrier, TN 37073. Visitation with the family will be from 10 am until the time of service.
Born September 12, 1943 in Truro Nova Scotia, Canada to the late James Charles and Laura Clare (Beyore) Mason. Bob served our country in the Air Force from May of 1964 to June of1966 and was discharged from the Air Force Reserve in May of 1970. On August 18, 1969, he was sworn in as a Naturalized Citizen.
Bob came to the US to join the military and attend college in California. After leaving the military, he moved to Tennessee for work where he met and married Sammie Holcomb, his wife of 59 years. They eventually settled down in the small town of Ridgetop, Tennessee where they make their home almost 36 years
In 2011 he retired from Walmart where he worked for over 20 years. At the time of his retirement, Bob was a Market Manager in charge of the Pharmacies and Vision Centers for the Southern Middle Tennessee area. He loved to travel – which he did extensively after he retired and visited all the states, a couple of the US territories as well as 36 countries.
He was the oldest of 5 boys, enjoyed playing golf in his younger years, was an amateur photographer, and a Red Cross Volunteer. Also, an avid reader, Bob was a history buff and particularly enjoyed reading about all the presidents. It was not uncommon for him to be reading 2 to 3 books at the same time.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded by 2 brothers, Daryl Mason and Terry Mason. He is survived by wife, Sammie Marie Holcomb; 2 sons, Robert Charles Mason II and Charles James Mason; grandson, Jeremy Kane Mason; 2 brothers, Brian Mason and Jeff Mason.
