Mr. James “Jimmy” Wesley Hendrix, age 85, of the Morgan City community of Lacey’s Spring, Alabama, passed away at his residence early Friday morning, August 28, 2026. Jimmy was born in Morgan County, Alabama, on December 29, 1940, to Felton Wesley Hendrix and Dorothy Edgemon Hendrix. He and Carolyn Jean Thomas Hendrix shared more than 61 years of marriage. Jimmy owned and operated Morgan City Garage, his auto mechanic business where he was always honest and dependable. He served in the U.S. Army and the Alabama National Guard and was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church.
Jimmy was a man of few words and a generous heart. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He loved his church, enjoyed fishing, and watching Westerns.
He also enjoyed traveling. He loved visiting the Smoky Mountains, Cades Cove, the Apple Barn, Florida Everglades, and Canada.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Carolyn J. Hendrix; son, James “Carl” Hendrix; daughter, Linda “Diane” Stinson (Randall Lee); grandchildren, Wesley “Taylor” Stinson (Tessa), James “Cameron” Hendrix, and Bethanye Lee MacKenzie Stinson; great-grandson, “Cash” Cassius Brenn Stinson; and cousin, Ann Bartee (Jim).
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Felton and Dorothy Hendrix, and his sister, Melba Jean Benton.
Services for Jimmy will be held at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. Family, friends, and guests will gather for visitation on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. to share memories, reminisce, recognize and honor Jimmy’s life. The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Cruise officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in Morgan City with Taylor Stinson, Cameron Hendrix, Connor Barber, Bradley Bell, Trevor Borden, and Cecil West serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer Mason Turner. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel assisting with arrangements.
