William Lawrence Jackson, 64, of Huntsville, Alabama, was peacefully released from his worldly pain on the 26th of August, 2026.
Born in El Paso, Texas, on the 12th of January, 1962, to parents Kenneth “Ken” and Barbara “Linda” Jackson.
Bill or Billy-as he was commonly known to friends and family, was an avid racquetball player in his youth, who won many tournaments and achieved a national ranking. He loved music, documentaries about military history and technology, and nature documentaries. Bill served in the United States Army and was frequently recognized by his leadership for his sharp wit and dedicated, selfless service. Following his military service, Bill transitioned to successful career in software programming, a career he credited to his Army training and his leaders’ willingness to equip him with skills that made him employable as a civilian.
If you were to ask Bill what his life’s greatest accomplishments and joys were, he would almost certainly not mention the professional accolades he received over the years. Instead, Bill would delight in telling stories about his role as a doting father and Gramps. He cherished every moment spent with his father and sisters, and the later years of his life brought him a profound, unique happiness as he lived close to his daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons. Being able to spoil Bennett and Harrison, and do something as simple as share a meal, meant the world to him.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Linda, and his sisters, Ralynn and Regina. He is survived by his father, Ken; stepmother, Sheila; sisters, Renee and Ramona; daughter, Jessica; son-in-law, Warren; and his most beloved grandsons, Bennett and Harrison.
Bill will be laid to rest on Friday, the 4th of September, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers or gifts, you consider making a donation to the Hospice Family Care Fund through the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. The program provided profound comfort to Bill, as well as immense relief and peace to his family during their hardest days.
