Carolyn Stromquist, 81 years, of Athens, Alabama passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026 at Limestone Manor. She was born in Burlingame, Kansas to Ken and Letha Bolton.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 51 years, Pete Stromquist. Survivors include her daughter, Janene Harries (Michael); grandsons, Zachary Harries and Trenton Harries; brother, Michael K. Bolton (Collette) of Bradenton, Florida; nephews, Jim Clowry of Dillwyn, Virginia and Lenard Clowry of Marietta, Georgia; nieces, Mary Stockstill (Bill) of Marietta, Georgia, Margie O’Keefe (Michael) of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Carol Clowry of Bellmawr, New Jersey, and Meghan Carson (Christian) of Bradenton, Florida; several great-nephews and great-nieces; one great-great nephew and one great-great niece. She also leaves behind the numerous friends and closest companions that became her chosen family of the heart, sharing in every major milestone, laugh and memory.
With heavy hearts and vibrant memories, we celebrate the life of Carolyn. Her family, community and deep faith anchored her and were a central part of her life. As a proud member of the Red Hat Society, she loved any excuse to dress up, wear her signature red and purple, and socialize.
Her home was a testament of her colorful personality and her hospitable nature, acting as a constant beacon for family and friends. She loved transforming her home into a festive wonderland for every holiday, big or small. Every corner reflected her creative spirit and welcoming heart.
Carolyn poured love into every detail of her existence, truly living by her favorite quote: “Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.”
While her presence will be deeply missed here on Earth, her family takes great comfort in knowing that she has slipped peacefully into eternity, where she is finally reunited with the love of her life, Pete. Together once again, their love story continues in a place of endless light and joy.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Friendship Church, 16479 Lucas Ferry Road, Athens, AL 35611 with visitation at 10am and service at 11am.
