Gladys Geneva Goode, age 89 of Columbiana, AL formerly of Athens, AL passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after a long illness, at her residence. She was born on October 21, 1936, in Limestone County to James Andrew Colwell and Beulah Mae Miller Colwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; James H. Goode; and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam Ponder and husband Merrell; one grandson, Tom Ponder and wife Jennifer; and one great-granddaughter, Parker Ponder.
Mrs. Goode was a member of Bethel Church of Christ. She was very active in the church until she became ill. She enjoyed watching birds in the yard, but the real highlight of her life was her great-granddaughter, Parker.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Bethel Cemetery on Hwy 72 in Athens with Bryon Romine officiating. The visitation will be on Saturday from 10 until 12 at McConnell Funeral Home.
