Mary Lynn Hancock's obituary pictureMary Lynn Hancock, age 60, of Scottsboro, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, October 29,
2026, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born on January 14, 1966, in Scottsboro, Alabama.
Mary spent her entire life in Scottsboro and is an alumni of Scottsboro High School Class of
1984. Before her recent retirement, Mary devoted more than 30 years to working in human
resources, forming meaningful friendships and lasting connections throughout her career.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love for her family was at the heart
of her life. Throughout her life, she remained steadfast in her love and loyalty to her family and
friends, treasuring the time spent together and the memories they made. She found her true
serenity at the beach, always had a different purse on her arm, and was always ready for a
good time. Mary was as real as they come- unapologetically herself and loved for exactly who
she was.
Mary was a Christian, and her family finds peace and comfort in knowing she is now with her
Heavenly Father and reunited with her love, David. Though her presence will be deeply missed,
the love she shared and the memories she leaves behind will remain with those who knew and
loved her.
Mary is survived by her pride and joy son, Zachary (Rachael) Willis; grandchildren, Carter and
Isaiah Willis, Audrey Tomlin, and Colton (Faith) Tomlin; parents, Norman and Edwina Benson;
siblings, Paula Garner, Rachel (Santiago) Phillips, Jesse Evans, Lee (Shalyn) Benson; and
many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, special friend Allen McGhee, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hancock.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Rudder
Funeral Home in Scottsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., with Hardin Coleman
officiating. Burial will follow at Goosepond Cemetery.
