On August 14th, 2026, ten days after her 92nd birthday, Dolores Diaz passed into glory. Dolores was born on August 4th, 1934 in Santiago de Cuba to Nicholas and Esperanza Vian. Dolores, along with her husband and other family members, were able to take refuge in the United States in 1962. To all who knew her, Dolores was known as “Abby”. Upon graduation from college in Cuba, Dolores worked as a primary school teacher. After coming to the United States, she worked for many years as a bank teller. She loved baseball, a strong cup of Cuban coffee, and sharing stories of her native Cuba over a glass of wine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her two daughters, Isabel and Barbara. Also by her four beloved grandchildren: Raul, Christopher, Rebekah and Sarah. And by her five beloved great grandchildren: Isabella, Cayden, Ava Marie, Christina, and Caleb.
A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, on Friday, August 28th at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends during a reception at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Valley Light Orphanage care of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
