David Williams was born in Montgomery, AL to the late J.D. and Doris Williams, the oldest of three brothers. Mr. Williams was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School where he was a trumpet player in the band. He attended Auburn University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physics engineering and proceeded to receive a master’s in mechanical engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Married to his high school sweetheart, Barbara “Bobbie”, for 67 years, the couple found many joyful times traveling to Auburn University football games. A die-hard Auburn Fan, David packed up their car and attended three decades of celebrated wins and pushed through a few losses watching his beloved Auburn Tigers.

During his esteemed careers with Harris Corporation and Boeing, he worked to further space exploration through projects including the life support systems for the International Space Station.

Mr. Williams was a member of Asbury Church and the Open Door Sunday School class. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and loving son. David was a steadfast believer in Christ and strove to live his life in the image of his savior, through his gracious hospitality and loving heart.

David is survived by his wife Barbara: his daughter, Jill Wurstner (Karl); his son, Todd; brothers, James Williams (Pamela) of Scottsdale, and Dr. Donald Williams (Adeline) of Mountain Brook; grandchildren, Sam Wurstner (Katie), Erin Bickley (Jared), Matthew Wurstner, and Megan Theune (Peter); and great-grandson, Bennett Bickley.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 22 at Asbury Church in Madison, Alabama.
