Mrs. Charlene Scott McGowan, age 79, of Smithville, TN passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Ascension St. Thomas River Park Hospital. She was born on August 08, 1947 to parents James Lawson Scott and Hilda Faye Scott. She was a homemaker and loved collecting antiques. In her spare time, she loved to craft and could make just about anything. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jimmy Cleveland McGowan, sons Ronnie McGowan and Jason McGowan, and sister Lois Barrett.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law Dana McGowan (Joe Curtis), grandchildren Abbie McGowan (Luke Crawford) and Dakota McGowan (Matt Muncey), great grandchildren Lynlie Crawford and Sunnie Crawford, siblings Hazel (David) Anderson and Lynn Scott (Sandra Callahan), and brother-in-law Lee Roy Barrett. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Charlene McGowan are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 20, 2026 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
