Charlotte McQuaig Collins, 85, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on August 15, 2026. Born January 8, 1941, in Gardendale, Alabama, Charlotte’s life was marked by a steady, quiet goodness—an affection that made people feel safe, seen, and cared for, often in the simplest and most meaningful ways.
A graduate of Cullman High School, Charlotte went on to earn her Associate’s degree in Accounting at Wallace State. She carried that diligence and steadiness into her work, taking particular pride in her time at the West Cullman Baptist Association—serving with the same gentle devotion she brought to every part of her life.
Charlotte was, at her core, a nurturing soul. She loved in practical, unmistakable ways—by feeding people, by looking after them, by making sure no one left her care still carrying a need. She was famous for her homemade biscuits and cut strawberries, and if you so much as hinted that you were hungry, she would have been more than happy to make a full meal in the middle of the night. Her generosity was never performative; it was simply who she was, offered freely and without keeping score.
Faith was the foundation of Charlotte’s days. A God-fearing woman, she lived with a sincerity that shaped her choices and her kindness, and those who knew her best often said the best way to describe her was as a woman who lives by Proverbs 31. Alongside her faith, she carried a warm, easy humor and the gift of storytelling—bringing laughter, comfort, and a sense of closeness with the way she could share a moment. She loved to read, to play solitaire, and she had a tender heart for animals, reflecting a compassion that reached far beyond herself.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ralph and Jewell Adamson; sister, Zena Mae Wilcut; husbands, Charles McQuaig and Reverend Jack Collins.
She is survived by daughter, Carla Miller; son, Patrick (Amanda) McQuaig; daughter, Tiffany Hill; son, Stuart (Whitleigh) Miller,; daughter, Natalie (Taylor) Carden; and sister, Zettie Faye. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kira McQuaig, Annzleigh Miller, Devin McQuaig, Owen Miller, Bennett Miller, and Rylee Kate Hill.
