Family will receive friends Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 10 am until 11 am at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 am. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. Jonny Frazier will officiate.

Mary and her family moved to Curry when she was a little girl. Mary’s family had a farm and had pecan trees. Mary made many friends during this time. Almost every child in the community helped with the farm and picking pecans.

She attended Meek High School where she graduated in 1955. She graduated from Howard University to pursue her teaching career.

Mary dedicated her life to serving the people of the Curry Community. Mary was a teacher at Curry Elementary School where she taught Home Ec. Reading and third grade. Her love for children was found in the classroom. You will find a picture of every child that ever gave her a picture in her closet. Her love for children did not go unnoticed.

Mary was a member of Curry United Methodist Church for approximately 70 years. She cherished her little church and her love for serving the Lord and her church was evident. She served on many committees making sure that anything of concern would be taken care of. Mary supported the church with her presence and her willingness to help in time of need.

After retirement, Mary and her husband, Ralph, spent their time traveling to many places. They traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, and many Southern states. One of her favorite destinations was the Holy Land which was a dream come true trip for her.

Mary enjoyed art and painted many pictures of flowers and scenic landscapes. Her hobbies of painting, ceramics, sewing and photography won Mary many first place first place ribbons at the fair. An avid reader, you would often find Mary reading a good book in her spare time.

Mary will be fondly remembered by her family and friends as a kind, loving, compassionate person filled with joy and laughter and one who always had an open door and room at the table for anyone.
