Mona Yevette Sandlin, 67, of Carbon Hill, passed away on August 11, 2026, at her residence.

Family will be receiving friends Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at McDade Cemetery in Carbon Hill. E.J. Lowery will officiate.

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Mona Yevette Sandlin, a loving mother and caring friend. Mona’s battle with chronic pain & illness came to an end on Aug. 11, 2026.

Mona was known for her warm and caring personality. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many. Mona will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her proudest accomplishment in life was her daughter Katie. Mona’s unwavering encouragement, support and her boundless love will forever live in Katie’s heart.

Mona’s family is comforted in knowing that she is no longer in pain. “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

She was preceded by her parents, Bobby “Fletcher” Sullivan and Annette Sullivan; spouse, Allen Sandlin and mother-in-law, Virginia Smothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Katie Sandlin; sister, Myra Sullivan and lifelong friend, Gwendolyn Smothers.
