Birmingham Woman Dies After Car Enters River Near Cordova In Walker County

WALKER COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident near the ton of Cordova in Walker County has taken the life of a Birmingham woman:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 2 p.m. Monday, August 10, has claimed the life of a Birmingham woman.

Elaine S. Lindstrom, 37, was fatally injured when the 2025 Nissan Sentra she was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch, went airborne, struck a riverbank, and then entered the river. Lindstrom was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Interstate 22 near the 74 mile-marker approximately three miles southeast of Cordova, in Walker County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
