Dr. Rene’ Chesteen Thompson Fann, of Tuscumbia, AL, entered her Heavenly home on August 8, 2026.
Dr. Thompson-Fann devoted more than 25 years to education, serving students, teachers, and families throughout the Shoals area. She taught and served as an educator and administrator in Muscle Shoals City Schools before retiring as an administrator from Tuscumbia City Schools. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Alabama and her doctorate from Samford University.
A woman of deep faith, Rene’ was a dedicated member of Margerum Community Church, where she faithfully taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed fellowship through the Oakland Community Church Bible study group.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lucian Chesteen; her brother Douglas Chesteen; her husband, Ronald “Ronnie” Thompson in 1995; and her husband, Wallace “Randy” Fann in 2020.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Chesteen; her sister, Tracy Wix; her daughters, Tennille (Shawn) Sullivan and Whitney (Ray) Price; her beloved grandchildren, Marlee Sullivan, Cayson Sullivan, and Tessa Price; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends, including Jeffrey Hall and Sue Reeves.
The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the physicians, nurses, and staff of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at UAB St. Vincent’s and to Hospice of North Alabama, with special thanks to Karen Simone, for the exceptional compassion and care shown to Rene’ and her family.
The visitation will be Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The memorial service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Rod Stansky officiating.
