William “Scott” Seamster, 64, a long-time resident of Plantersville, Mississippi passed away August 3, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center Inpatient Hospice, after a brief illness with his sister, Kim at his side. Scott was born November 27, 1961, in Linn Creek, Missouri. After attending Job Corps, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Korea for a tour of duty.
He was a jack of all trades. Over the years, he worked offshore on the oil rigs, construction hand, plumber, over the road truck driver, roofer, security guard and sewing machine mechanic. Scott was known for his quick wit, contagious sense of humor, and his artistic abilities. He could quote the Bible chapter and verse. He could recite complete passages of his favorite books and almost the entire scripts from Cool Hand Luke and Lonesome Dove. He was an avid Civil War buff with a wealth of knowledge.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 PM Friday, August 7, 2026, in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with his sister, Kim Duffy doing the eulogy. Visitation will be from 1 PM-service time at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Plantersville Cemetery. Scott was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Charles and Pat Seamster, his younger brother, Charles Dwayne Seamster, and nephew, Paul Andrew Duffy.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Linda and Larry Blackmon, of Batesville, MS; his sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Sean Duffy, of Gautier, MS; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Jenni Blackmon of fort Worth, TX; his sister-in-law, Shannon Seamster Blackwell (Jeff) of Tuscumbia, AL; his stepsister and brother-in-law, Missy and Bob Dennis of Tupelo, MS; his cousin, David Wadley; his nephews and nieces, Daniel Duffy, Alex Seamster, Vaughn Seamster, Noah Duffy, Price Blackmon, Henry Blackmon, Blake Curry (Terri), Mallori McBryde (Michael), Madison Dennis, and Morgan Dennis; a host of extended family including, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition, Scott was blessed to be part of the Long family that loved him dearly. He also leaves behind many friends and neighbors that became like family to him.
The family is deeply grateful to North Mississippi Medical Center Inpatient Hospice entire staff for providing compassionate care. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tupelo Lee Humane Society at PO Box 1185 Tupelo, MS 38802, in honor of his beloved cats, Moma Kitty, Baby and Patches.
